Song for Olga

The composition A Song for Olga was first performed live on 14 March at the Czech National Bank Congress Centre at a gala benefit concert on the occasion of Olga Havel's 90th birthday. It was sung by its author Aneta Langerová accompanied by pianist Jakub Zitek and the Maranatha Gospel Choir.

The song was written at the request of the Foundation, which approached Aneta for cooperation, to which the singer and composer readily agreed. In her own words, Aneta felt very honoured by the offer to be an active part of the celebrations.

Since mid-March, Song for Olga has been living its own life. It has been released by Supraphon, it has been put on the Frekvence 1 chart, and it can be listened to on Spotify or YouTube Music. It was successfully performed by the Bruncvík Boys Choir at the Olga Havel Tree on Senovážné Square. This was the first of a series of meetings at the Olga Havel Trees already planted or at places where a new tree is yet to be planted. Each time the Song for Olga will be sung, always the same, yet completely different, as interpreted by school choirs or choirs of local primary art schools in different parts of our country.

This touching song about faith in people who have good will is not just an artistic tribute to Olga Havel. It brings practical help to people who need it. Proceeds from listening to it on Supraphonline, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. will be donated to our foundation through the public collection Gift for Olga.

Thank you for helping. We wish you a wonderful listening experience.

„We wish that the right for dignified life is also enjoyed by those who live with handicap or mental illness, abandoned and old people, those who have a different skin colour or a different way of life, those in poverty or attacked by a malignant disease.“ Olga Havel
