Anna Šolcová is a prize holder of „My Life with Handicap Award“ at the Czech Press Photo 2019. This prize that has been awarded since 2014 by the Committee of Good Will – Olga Havel Foundation. Anna Šolcová got the award for a series of photos titled Energy Poverty. Formal ceremony will take place at the Old Town Hall on November the 22nd.
Czech Press Photo presented the nominated photographs and videos of the jubilee 25th year of the competition. At the same time the winner in the category „My Life with Handicap“ was chosen. The prize went to photographer Anna Šolcová and her series titled Energy Poverty.
Up to a quarter of Czech households are threatened by energy poverty. The the most vulnerable groups are pensioners paying for the heating in large apartments where they lived with their whole families before. Other groups are households in the countryside, single parents and unemployed people living in apartment buildingswith high energy losses, and, of course, homeless people.
Last year, the Olga Havel Foundation Prize went to photographer Petr (Zewlakk) Vrabec for a set of photographs depicting ousting of families with children from the hostels in Ústí nad Labem.
Awarding ceremony, during which the names of all winners will be announced, will take place on November the 22nd in the Brožík Hall of the Old Town Hall.
